Nov 27 - Nov 29
Pine Crest Upper School social entrepreneurship students competed and earned first place in the University of Delaware EntreX Lab's first global problem-solving pitch event of the year.
Twelve (12) teams from high schools across the country were given a prompt and three days to design a solution. Teams had 90 seconds to pitch their solution virtually to a panel of judges and college admissions counselors from around the country.
This year’s prompt asked students “how might a college admissions department foster a racially diverse undergraduate student body while adhering to updated legal constraints?”
Anaya Shintre ’24, Gabrielle Frei ’24, Elani Kodner ’24, and Sophie Whiteside ’24 were awarded first place for their creation of The TEN Method. The TEN Method allows universities to build a diverse class while adhering to legal precedent by using machine learning algorithms to recognize ideal recruitment destinations, optional identity essays to learn more about the applicant, and a network of minority students to facilitate community building.
Congratulations!
