Pine Crest Upper School students Netta Dobzinski ’25, Annika Sachdeva ’25 and William Wakefield ’25 were named scholars in the 2025 Society for Science Regeneron Science Talent Search (STS), the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors.
Annika’s research, “Novel Approach to Early Pancreatic Cancer Detection using Weighted Normalization in a Dino-v2 Inspired Visual Transformer,” Netta’s project, “Neuronal and Genetic Basis of an Attention-Like State in Drosophila,” and William’s research “Variational Autoencoder Latent Space as a Robust Clinical Classification Tool for Neurodegenerative Diseases,” were three of 300 selected from 2,471 applicants.
Each year, scholars are chosen based on their exceptional research skills, commitment to academics, innovative thinking, and promise as scientists.
The Regeneron STS provides students with a national stage to present original research and celebrates the hard work and discoveries of young scientists who are bringing a fresh perspective to significant global challenges. This year, research projects cover topics from bioinformatics to public health and energy efficiency.
Congratulations!
