Pine Crest School recently conducted a lockdown drill on the Fort Lauderdale campus, while being observed by some of the top safety officials in the region. The drill was led by Pine Crest School Executive Director of Transportation, Security, and Crisis Management Joe Markham. During the drill, officials from local schools, private security, Fort Lauderdale Police, and Broward Sheriff's Office observed. Also in attendance were former Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti and Wayne Black of Wayne Black and Associates, who is a retired FBI agent who operates a security consulting agency.

"It is a great honor and compliment for our school to be visited by these guests," said Joe Markham. "We have been recognized in the school security expert community as the model school for our security program and specifically for our lockdown drill method."

All guests were very complimentary of how Pine Crest School conducts its lockdown drill, and walked through the campus to observe procedures from the Lower School to the cafeteria, to administrative offices, and in Middle and Upper Schools. Joe Markham thanked the school community and commended them for a job well done in conducting the lock-down drill. Many of the guests also represented members of the local school coalition that was created by Pine Crest President Dr. Dana Markham several months ago.

"The cooperation and response of our student body was also complemented," said Joe Markham. "This is a reflection of the dedication of our security team members, our faculty, our support staff, and our students. I would also like to thank our administration for their support both present and in the past.

"The program we have today has been a process that has taken many years to develop, plan, train, and implement. We hope to continue to make improvements throughout the years ahead. Thank you again for your assistance and the role you played in making our drill successful yesterday and for the roll you play each day in making our campus a safe environment for our students, faculty, parents, and visitors."
