The Pine Crest School boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams earned their respective 2A Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) district championship titles recently.

The boys’ swimming team won three events at the meet, taking first place in the 400 free relay, the 50 free, and the 100 breaststroke. Joshua Hanks ’21 earned first place in all three events. This is the seventh consecutive district title for the boys and their 40th overall.

The girls’ team won every event except for one, with Julia Podkoscielny ’23 and Hanna Elks Smith ’22 finishing first in their two individual events and the 200 free relay. The girls’ team has won 41 district titles in the last 47 years.

Both diving teams also finished in first place for the district with Kevin Mendez ’22 and Kaylee Greenberg ’21 taking the individual district championships.

The meet looked a little different this year with only competitors, coaches, and timers being allowed at the venue. In addition, the boys’ and girls’ teams competed at different times to allow for social distancing during the meet.

Swimmers and divers from both teams will advance to the regional championship meet on Thursday, November 5 in Stuart.

Congratulations, and Go Panthers!
