Pine Crest School Debate Team Earns Bid to Tournament of Champions

Pine Crest Upper School’s debate team of Mahyoub Yatak ’23 and Michael Greenberg ’23 qualified for the Tournament of Champions by earning their second bid at the New York City Invitational.

Mahyoub was named the fifth best speaker at the Invitational, and Michael took the seventh spot. The team of Kristian Ivanov ’23 and Anaya Shintre ’24 also competed at the Invitational. 
 
In addition, Ellie Rosen ’24, Jack Bergman ’24, Noah Wilson ’25, Alexander Weinberg ’25, Yash Gupta ’25, and Edward Zhang ’25 competed in their first policy debate tournament at the Heart of Texas Invitational. Each of the three teams earned at least one win. Yash and Edward earned special honors ending the preliminary rounds as the fifth best team. Yash was named the fifth best individual debater while his partner Edward took eighth.
