Eight members of the Pine Crest School track and field team competed at the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) 2A 2024 state championship meet.
The eight student-athletes qualified for the meet after placing well at the regional level of competition. Brooke Hooper ’24 won the regional championship in the 1600-meter race for the third consecutive year. Rowan Sundevall ’26 placed regional runner-up in the javelin for the second year in a row.
At the state championship meet, “every member came home with a medal!” said Coach Paul Baur, Pine Crest Track and Field Program Head. “All eight student-athletes earned a spot on the podium, finishing at least in the top eight and earning all-state designation.”
In the javelin, Rowan Sundevall ’26, finished in third place, Elizabeth Sauby ’27 placed fourth, and Jordana Friedman ’26 finished in eighth place.
Brooke Hooper ’24 finished third in the 1600-meter, and the boys 4x100-meter relay team, Lucas Azout ’25, Erick Villari ’25, William Reese ’25, and Will Davila ’24 finished in eighth place.
In her second event, Rowan Sundevall finished 14th in the discus.
