Pine Crest School Student-Athletes and Coaches Recognized by the Sun Sentinel
June 24th 2021
Pine Crest School student-athletes were recognized by the Sun Sentinel as players of the year and to all county teams for their respective sports.
At the end of every season, the Sun Sentinel selects the top-performing athletes in their sport, categorizes them into first and second teams, and names an honorable mention list.
For tennis, Akasha Urhobo ’25 was named girls’ player of the year, Jameson Corsillo ’21 was named boys’ tennis player of the year, and Coach Corey Marsh was named boys’ tennis coach of the year. Jameson and Coach Marsh received the same honor from the Miami Herald earlier this summer.
Girls’ lacrosse student-athlete Taylor McClain ’21 was named player of the year.
Earlier this year, the Sun Sentinel recognized Julia Podkoscielny ’23, Kevin Mendez ’24, (swimming and diving) Ausar Thompson ’22, Amen Thompson ’22, and Coach Ike Smith (boys' basketball) as athletes and co-coach of the year in their respective sports.
