Pine Crest Upper School student Jonathan Williams ’21 earned first place in the Sigma Xi Virtual Student Scholars Symposium (VS3) in the high school poster presentation category for his research, Identifying Optimal Panobinstat Treatment Regimes Utilizing Reverse-Engineered Concentration Time Curves.

Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society is the international honor society of science and engineering. The day-long Symposium was an opportunity for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students to present and celebrate their research and engage with peers and professionals from the comfort of their home.

The program included poster and oral presentations across science, technology, engineering, math, and medicine (STEMM) disciplines, in addition to career preparation sessions. Participation was limited to just 100 students.

In addition, Joshua Grover ’20 and Will Kirschner ’21 were selected to present their research in the oral presentation category and did an excellent job communicating their results in the virtual session. Joshua's research is titled The Effect of Glyphosate on Gene Expression in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and Will's research is titled Automated Recyclable Detection in Industrial Processing Facilities.

Congratulations!
