Athletic Awards & Achievements


Pine Crest School student-athletes and coaches were recognized by the Miami Herald during the All County Awards Ceremony.

At the end of every school year, the Miami Herald hosts an awards ceremony honoring all of their Broward County first team all county athletes and naming their selections for athlete and coach of the year. 

Julia Podkoscielny ’23 was named the 4A-2A Female Athlete of the Year. Former winners of this award include alumnae Tsion Yared ’20 for Cross Country/Track, Julia Montgomery ’16 for Cross Country/Track, and Stephanie Eisenring ’09 for Swimming. Additionally, Julia was named girls’ swimming and diving athlete of the year.

Kevin Mendez ’22 was named boys’ swimming and diving athlete of the year, and Coach Mariusz Podkoscielny was named boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving coach of the year.

Amen Thompson ’22 and Ausar Thompson ’22 were named 4A-2A boys basketball co-players of the year, and Coach Ike Smith was named 4A-2A boys basketball co-coach of the year.

Jameson Corsillo ’21 was named boys’ tennis player of the year, and Coach Corey Marsh was named boys’ tennis coach of the year,
