Pine Crest School’s Debate Team kicked off its season recently sending two delegations to competitions in Washington, D.C. and Fort Lauderdale.
The Varsity Policy Debate team traveled to Washington D.C. to compete at the Georgetown Day School Invitational. Maya El-Sharif ’21 and Pedro Ribeiro ’21 made an impressive run to the quarter-finals losing on a split decision.
Teammates Saanvi Paharia ’21 and Michelle Rubin ’21 finished in the top half of the tournament but unfortunately did pass the elimination round.
Maya was individually ranked as the fourth speaker at the tournament.
Meanwhile, in Fort Lauderdale, 10 freshmen competed in their first Policy Debate Tournament. The team had another delegation competing in the Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate and Varsity Public Forum Debate.
