The team set a Florida record with an 18:26.87 team average, making them the fastest team in Florida history.

The girls were lead by Tsion Yared ’20, who won her fourth total and third consecutive state championship title at the meet. A Pine Crest runner has won the individual title in seven of the past eight years. Tsion is now the most decorated cross country runner in state history winning six individual all-state medals in her career.

Emily Faulhaber ’20 finished third for the second consecutive year and in the top seven for the third year in a row.

Maya Beleznay ’20 finished fourth earning her third all-state medal, and Mahdere Yared ’21 was eleventh also earning her third all-state medal. Also contributing to the championship were Sierra Stocker ’21, Lorrie Axelrod ’20, and Amanda Schwartz ’20.

The boys’ cross country team also competed at the state meet finishing 15th out of 32 teams.

The girls’ team will compete at the Nike Southeast Regional meet to qualify for a chance to race at the Nike Cross Country National Meet as a team in Portland, Oregon. They will travel to Cary, North Carolina for the November 30 event.

The region encompasses 13 states, and only two teams from the region will receive a bid for the National meet. The girls’ team is currently ranked second in the region, the highest they have ever been ranked. There has only been one other team in Florida history to qualify for Nationals.

Congratulations to all, and GO PANTHERS!
