The Pine Crest School boys and girls cross country teams competed in two national meets recently.
Brooke Hooper ’24 competed at the Garmin RunningLane XC Nationals in Huntsville, AL on December 4, 2021.
“More than 2,000 of the top runners and 100 teams from around the country flocked to compete in this unique event,” said Pine Crest Cross Country Program Head Coach Paul Baur. “At the end of the meet, with all the races combined, Brooke finished 246th out of the over 700 student-athletes that ran!”
Seven Pine Crest cross country runners competed at the Nike Southeast Regional in Cary, NC on Nov. 27, 2021.
“The region comprises the 11 southeast states plus Washington, D.C.,” said Coach Baur. “Our girls competed in the championship race and finished eighth overall. It was a great experience and a great way to end the season on a cold beautiful North Carolina morning with temperatures in the upper 30s!”
The boys were represented by Jack ’23 and William ’25 Gabrielle at Nike Southeast.
“Jack had a great race finishing 34th out of 189 runners,” said Coach Baur. “He also moved up significantly after the two kilometer mark, passing 45 runners over the last three kilometers to the finish line! Will also did well, moving up 15 spots after the two kilometer mark, finishing 138th at the meet.”
Congratulations to all!
