Pine Crest School students took the National Mythology Exam recently.
There are two national exams, the Pegasus Mythology Exam, which is intended for students in grades three through eight, and the Medusa Mythology Exam, which is intended for students in grades nine through 12. The exams allow students worldwide to demonstrate their enthusiasm and excellence in the field of Greco-Roman mythology.
“This year, 20 Upper School students expressed interest in preparing for and taking the exam,” said Mrs. Rebecca Strong, Upper School English Instructor. “This involved doing outside reading and meeting for several study sessions from January through April, and the exam took place in the first week of April.”
Of the 14 students who sat for the exam, Edward Zhang ’25 scored the highest, earning the summa cum laude designation and receiving a gold medal. Ryan Nowatski ’23 earned maxima cum laude with a silver medal, and Daniel Wilentz ’23 and Ethan Popper ’23 earned magna cum laude ribbons. Charles Gordon ’25 and Jack Gabrielle ’23 also earned cum laude recognition.
In addition to the Upper School students, Elizabeth Strong ’26 (Middle School) and James Strong ’29 (Lower School) took The Pegasus Mythology Exam. Elizabeth earned a gold medal, and James earned a silver medal.
Congratulations to all!
