Fifty-four (54) Pine Crest Upper School students qualified to advance to the DECA state competition for their scores in the Broward district competency-based written exam recently.
DECA is an international association of high school and college students and teachers of marketing, finance, hospitality, and management whose mission is to prepare leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in those fields.
At the DECA District Awards, 54 out of 100 Pine Crest participants received awards and will advance to the state DECA competition. The top three ranking students in each category earned special honors, and the top 13 finalists in each category will advance to compete at the state competition. Pine Crest had 16 students place in the top three of their categories.
“This is the highest number of students we’ve ever seen qualify for states, let alone place in the top three,” said Tim Curran, Upper School mathematics instructor and DECA faculty sponsor.
Congratulations to all!
