Upper School Awards & Achievements

Pine Crest Upper School students Frank Belette ’20 and Giuliana Cascarano ’20 have earned first place in the SAP Natural Disaster Challenge for the 2018 World Series of Innovation, hosted by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE).

Frank and Giuliana’s team, Foresight Fire, had to find a solution to the prompt posed by the challenge: design an initiative or innovative approach that uses data to address the impacts of natural disasters.

Foresight Fire’s concept is to prevent the spread of wildfire by launching a satellite that measures the factors that impact wildfire — oxygen, heat, and fuel — and treat those areas before a fire is sparked.

More than 1,640 registered teams competed in the Disaster Challenge.

Congratulations, Frank and Giuliana!
