Pine Crest Middle and Upper School choruses competed at the Florida School Music Association’s Musical Performance Assessment (MPA) recently.
The 150 student-singers were adjudicated along with approximately 2,000 students from around the county.
The Women’s Chorus earned straight Superior ratings from the judges for their performance and for sight-singing.
“The judges loved the Chorus’ well-rehearsed selections and attention to detail of ‘Deo Gracias’ and ‘Warrior,’” said Michael Testa, Pine Crest School Choral Director. “Their overall rating was Superior.”
The Men’s Chorus received a Superior rating and two Excellent ratings for a final rating of Excellent. The Mixed Chorus received three Excellent ratings and a Superior in sight-reading.
The Middle School chorus was adjudicated at the MPA the following day.
“The students sang two selections on stage and were then adjudicated on sight-reading rhythms and melodies,” said Mr. Testa. “They also earned straight Superior ratings. This result is especially exciting because more than half of the 49 members are new to chorus this year!”
Congratulations to all!
