The National Merit Scholarship Program is a competition for academic recognition and college scholarships. Students entered the Program by taking the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) during their junior year and earning a minimum score to qualify for the competition. They are now invited to apply to become a finalist by submitting a personal essay, high school grades, a school recommendation, and their SAT or ACT score.

Finalists become eligible to compete for the National Merit Scholar designation and scholarships sponsored by a private business or corporation, the student's college, or the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Scholarship winners will be announced in spring 2024.

Additionally, 27 members of the Class of 2024 were recognized as National Merit Commended Students. Read about them here.
