Pine Crest Upper School students in the three-year science research program presented their original research at the International Forum for Excellence in Research (IFoRE) in Washington, D.C. recently.
The conference provided a weekend of valuable networking opportunities and science immersion where students took advantage of the opportunity to interact with several of the world’s top science researchers and explore the nation’s capital.
“The conference's location inspired a unique blend of science policy and scientific innovation,” said Ms. Jennifer Gordinier, Pine Crest Head of Science Research. “Students had the opportunity to hear from several transformational scientists in the fields of regenerative medicine and immunology.”
Ms. Gordinier and Dr. Kate Ganden, Pine Crest Science Research Instructor, participated in a panel discussion on STEM Education Excellence. The session focused on the critical role of innovative STEM educational approaches in shaping future scientists and engineers and discussed the latest trends in curriculum development and policy initiatives aimed at enhancing STEM education.
“We had 20 students present in the speaker and poster division across several research categories, ranging from astrophysics to molecular and cellular biology,” said Ms. Gordinier.
Yash Gupta ’25, Peter Lansing ’25, Mia Rozenberg ’25, Annika Sachdeva ’25, William Wakefield ’25 and Evan Rhine ’26 were recognized as top presenters in their category. The students received a medal, a monetary award and were inducted into Sigma Xi, the nation’s largest interdisciplinary Scientific Honor Society.
Congratulations to all!
