Pine Crest School’s DECA chapter competed in the Florida DECA Career Development Conference recently.
DECA is an international association of high school and college students, professionals, and teachers of marketing, finance, hospitality, and management whose mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in those fields.
Of the 28 students who participated, nine received recognition at the conference, and six will advance to compete in the international conference from April 27-30, 2019 in Orlando.
Additionally, Nina Hamuy ’21 has been appointed as one of the Florida DECA Team 62 Vice Presidents. As one of the Vice Presidents, Nina will have additional responsibilities, including developing an annual business plan for Team 62.
“It is a very special opportunity that I am honored to have,” said Nina. “I'm really excited to become more involved with the organization.”
"I couldn't be more proud of the initiative and responsibility demonstrated by the DECA officers,” said Mrs. Julie Venne, the faculty sponsor of DECA. “Ethan Berman ’19 and Harris Gevinson ’19 grew the Pine Crest DECA chapter from nothing into one of the most active clubs on campus. We are all amazed by the level of interest that increases each year, and the passion and business acumen that new members bring to the club."
The following students earned awards of distinction by placing in the top six for either testing proficiency or role play:
Congratulations to the whole team!
