Pine Crest School Athletics recently honored the Class of 2022 at their annual award ceremony.

The Bill Rousseau Awards are named after former Athletic Director, Mr. Bill Rousseau. The award is given to two senior athletes who exemplify good sportsmanship, leadership, and outstanding athletic abilities. The winner’s name is engraved on a trophy that is displayed in the Athletic Department.

The first recipient of the Award is Ella Bishara ’22, a two-sport athlete who captained both the girls’ soccer and girls’ lacrosse teams.

“Ella’s exceptional leadership, speed, and skill helped lead the girls’ lacrosse team to the regional final,” said Coach Eileen Pliske, Middle School Athletic Director and Girls’ Lacrosse Program Head. Ella will continue playing lacrosse at Colgate University next year.

This second recipient of the Award is Kevin Mendez ’22.

“I first heard about Kevin’s exceptional athleticism when he was in third grade,” said Coach Pliske. “When he was finally old enough and eligible to compete in Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) sports, he quickly made a name for himself winning his first state championship title as a seventh-grade diver. Since then, he has earned five consecutive state championship titles. He holds the FHSAA record for most state titles in a single sport.”

Kevin will dive for the University of North Carolina next year.

Congratulations, Ella and Kevin, and Go Panthers!
