Pine Crest Upper School student Kaelin Braverman ’25 published her first novel recently.

“Last Breath” follows a teenager named Cass who is grappling with the haunting loss of her brother. With a gripping narrative told in the first person, “Last Breath” is an exploration of the depths of the human psyche. The reader sees through Cass's eyes the facades people maintain and the secrets they guard, even among closest friends. While Cass deals with the psychological trauma of losing a loved one, she uses her pain to fuel her search. This tale reveals the harsh truth of the world to Cass: things aren't always as they seem.

The story is an introspective journey into grief, resilience, and the complex layers of human relationships.
