Pine Crest School fall sports finished a great season while ushering in the return of the hockey program to the winter sports line up!
Teams celebrated victories at the district, regional, and state level of competition. Here are a few season highlights.
Football:
The varsity football team finished 8-3 overall, advancing to the regional quarterfinals for the second straight season.
Senior quarterback Jordan Faison ’23 led the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 2M in total touchdowns for the season with 26.
Homecoming 2022 culminated in the Panthers defeating Westminster Academy by a score of 55-14 at FAU Stadium.
Golf:
The boys golf team won the FHSAA regional championship tournament in a dramatic fashion with an eagle on the par five 18th hole from Jayden Freedman ’24. The team advanced to the state tournament where they finished fifth.
The girls golf team placed district runner-up securing their spot to compete in the regional championship tournament.
Cross Country:
The girls cross country team ended the season by finishing sixth in the State after winning the Regional Championship by one point. Individually, Brooke Hooper ’24 finished eighth in the state and was the FHSAA regional champion.
The boys team also advanced to the state meet placing 21st in the state and seventh in the region.
Swimming and Diving:
Girls swimming and diving placed multiple swimmers on the podium of various events at the state championship meet.
Julia Podkoscielny ’23 won the 200 Yard Individual Medley to cap off a wonderful career at Pine Crest.
The boys team placed second in the regional meet with the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Kingsley Bailey ’25, Colin Nealy ’23, Lucas Opperman ’24, and Roman Ferrara ’24 winning the state championship title.
Girls Volleyball:
The girls’ volleyball team ended their season at the FHSAA regional quarterfinal.
Crew:
Pine Crest School petitioned and secured two entries to compete at The Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts in the Boys' Youth 8 and Boys' Youth 4 events. The regatta is the largest two-day rowing event in the country with more than 800 teams competing. The varsity youth 4 finished 41st of 90 and the varsity youth 8 finished 50th of 90 entries. The youth 4 finished in the top 50% and secured themselves a spot for the 2023 Charles regatta next year.
