Pine Crest School’s Technology Student Association (TSA) chapter competed at the Florida TSA Conference recently.
The group of 120 students from the Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale Middle and Upper Schools competed in 35 Upper School events and 34 Middle School events. The students competed in a multitude of categories, ranging from 3D animation and architectural design to transportation modeling and biotechnology.
Students brought home 58 awards, including six first place awards. The Middle School invention and innovation team earned first place for their development of a clothes hanger system for people with Parkinson’s disease. The mass production, construction challenge, and website design teams also earned first place.
The Upper School fashion design and technology team earned first place for the mechanical engineering they integrated into their prototypes, and the software design team earned first place for their computer application addressing food insecurity in South Florida.
Additionally, the Pine Crest Middle School earned third place overall in the state.

Many of the Pine Crest teams will advance to compete at the National TSA Conference in Washington, D.C. this summer.
