A team of three Pine Crest Upper School students has qualified to compete at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Innovate South Florida competition in April 2023.
The NFTE hosts the annual Innovate South Florida competition to raise money to support entrepreneurship programs in lower-income schools.
Pine Crest Upper School Economics Instructor Andrew Kashdan held a preliminary competition to determine which Pine Crest students’ business plan would represent the School at Innovate South Florida. The participating students were instructed to create a seven to 10-minute presentation that included the idea, target market, demographics, financial statements, and expansion.
The winning team of Anaya Shintre ’24, Gabriela Guimaraes ’24, and Sophie Partin ’24, presented StyroStick, a sustainable and affordable craft adhesive derived from recycled styrofoam and D-limonene through solvent-based recycling. The team will now prepare to present StyroStick at Innovate South Florida on April 19, 2023 at The Idea Center at Miami Dade College.
Congratulations, and good luck!
